The Body remembers what the mind forgets

Dated 9.01.2023

The body is a thing that keeps score
Marking time past and future chisled in bone past and future.
The joints stiffen by pain or age; an unintended inheritance from a parent to you and from their parents to them.

An uncomfortable thing a feeling liken to the premature expulsion of an egg
--Smashed against the floor--
A death unavoidable for a thing afraid and despair coming naturally with those of scramable yolk hearts.

Reflection

I am afraid of death, this is a relatively recent discovery about myself as I used to be ambivalent toward it when I was younger. This poem is an attempt to process it i'm not sure it succeeds at it.
